• ULEMCo Joins the Hydrogen Showcase at CENEX

    Medium Aircraft Tow Tug

ULEMCo, the UK’s leading supplier of technologies that deliver low carbon transport solutions based on hydrogen, will be exhibiting at CENEX this year as the event puts a spotlight on innovation in hydrogen this year.

On show will be a Sprinter van utilising ULEMCo’s H2ICED® dual fuel technology and acting as a demonstrator of flexibility of the technology approach, better known for large vehicle applications - HGV and utility vehicles. By upgrading existing diesel vehicles to run on hydrogen dual-fuel, operators can enjoy the benefits of the clean fuel without delay, and have the back-up of conventional operation should a hydrogen supply be unavailable. ULEMCo has shown how versatile the conversion process can be, having produced vehicles from small vans to giant piling machines used in construction.

Inside the Sprinter van, the company will be showing one of its auxiliary tank packs, named the ‘Port-a-Bull™’. This is an example of a simple and low-cost mobile hydrogen refuelling solution that can be used as emergency back-up, and / or supply for small demonstrations, that has been proven in ULEMCo’s testing and development purposes. The design of the Port-a-Bull was created in-house by Owen Bull, whose work has just been shortlisted for the Apprentice/Trainee of the Year award by the Northern Automotive Alliance.

ULEMCo will also have the Medium Aircraft Tow Tug (MATT) that has been upcycled from its diesel original system to zero-emission, using the HyICE™ 100% hydrogen combustion hybrid powertrain. This really novel approach not only applies ultra-low emission combustion technology with an electric drivetrain, it also allows for a sustainable route to saving embed carbon emissions by utilising existing chassis and vehicles.

Amanda Lyne, Founder and Managing Director of ULEMCo, said: “We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at CENEX, and discussing with our expert engineers the range of approaches that are now possible to take advantage of hydrogen fuel.”
