    Papilio3 DC V2X FastHub Demonstrator

    Visit us on SP-16

The Papilio3 DC V2X FastHub Demonstrator Project will deliver a six‑month trial of an innovative development of the award winning Papilio3. The project is funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, delivered through Innovate UK, under the funding competition “V2X Innovation Programme: bidirectional charging demonstrations”.

The 3ti Papilio3 is a pop‑up mini solar car park and EV charging hub, built from recycled shipping containers. The trial version on show at Cenex Expo comprises:

    ·         12x 30 kW DC bidirectional chargepoints (with both CHAdeMO and CCS connectors)

    ·         A 20 kWp solar array

    ·         A 280 kWh battery energy storage system

These are all integrated by Turbo Power Systems into a DC microgrid, with a single grid‑facing inverter. This approach minimises losses and simplifies the flow of energy between the components . An internet connection to GridBeyond’s platform ensures that the maximum financial benefit is realisable, while providing the ability for the Papilio3 to respond to grid events in a timely fashion. The culmination of the project is a six-month Cenex operated trial using a provisioned fleet to demonstrate the additional benefits of using CCS V2X chargers.
