Unlocking Opportunities in Tomorrow's Mobility
Minister to open Cenex Expo 2024. Almost 200 of the most influential CAM and Net Zero experts confirmed as presenters, with an opening address from Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for the Future of Roads.
Cenex Expo 2024 provides a unique opportunity to see the latest transitional developments in Net Zero transportation, along with Connected Automated Mobility (CAM), and how these combine to shape the future of mobility.
Hear from, and network with, expert speakers. See and hear about the latest technology unveils and policy announcements, as the new Government plots its course to Net Zero and a future of Connected Automated Mobility.
Cenex Expo is the UK’s leading speaker platform that reaches the most influential transportation policymakers, stakeholders, and infrastructure experts. This year is no exception. The organisers Cenex Expo can now reveal an outstanding lineup of keynote speakers. Among them:
Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for the Future of Roads, Department for Transport
Prof. Sarah Sharples, Department for Transport - Chief Scientific Advisor
OBE Mike Hawes, CEO, The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)
Mike Biddle, Executive Director for Net Zero, Innovate UK
Ian Constance, CEO, Advanced Propulsion Centre UK.
The seminar programme for the two-day event addresses the full gambit of enabling building block technologies for Net Zero and Connected Automated Mobility. Ranging from batteries, power electronics, machines, and drives, through to the energy and digital infrastructure needed to support the market transition to electric and connected automated cars, vans, trucks and buses.
“With a new Government now in place, our Cenex Expo event couldn’t be better timed for agenda setting and addressing ‘what next’ for the motor industry innovation community, We are honoured to have both Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for the Future of Roads and Professor Sarah Sharples, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Department for Transport giving keynote addresses, which is testament to the importance of the successful transition to Net Zero and Connected Automated Mobility,” comments Robert Evans, Cenex CEO.
Expanding the CAM Ecosystem
Scaling up the CAM mobility ecosystem requires infrastructure enablers. Discover the support that’s rapidly emerging and the transformative and commercial potential that can be realised through partnerships and the evolving regulatory frameworks. Hear from those who have taken the first leap and explore the lessons that have been learned. Including the road-mapping strategies that work and how to define a business case for CAM in logistics and passenger transport.
Having the Automated Vehicles Act granted Royal Assent in May was a milestone moment for 2024. All eyes are now on what follows, reports Robert. “The CAM community is now looking towards the secondary legislation that will build upon this Bill and define the engineering tasks needed from verification and validation through to type approval.”
Net-Zero Technology Development
A strong support ecosystem is equally important to bridge the R&D development to mass-manufacturing gap. Hear from UK innovation agencies about technology development support and initiatives, as well as the frontrunners who are setting the innovation pace in this transformative journey to Net Zero transportation.
Cenex Head of Research and Technical Services, Steve Carroll comments: “The Net Zero seminar sessions will delve into the regulatory frameworks, UK and global initiatives, and innovative business models that will chart the future for the next wave of developments in the mobility space. Driving efficiency in UK technology and addressing economies of scale in order to lower production costs and increase accessibility is an important part of this phase.”
Developing Markets and Policy
Cenex Expo will delve into the latest net-zero roadmaps and initiatives across the innovation and policy landscapes and uncover the different technologies and fuels needed to decarbonise and balance transport and supporting energy systems. Hear about UK critical mineral supply, the future of the UK battery and automotive power electronics industries and addressing the skills gap.
Pointing out that Net Zero extends far beyond zero tailpipe emissions and harnessing fuels from renewable energy sources, Steve Carroll adds: “Scope 3 emissions need to be cut and this requires the automotive supply chain to integrate sustainability into material sourcing and manufacturing practices, whilst ensuring resilience and cost competitive supply. These emerging priorities which will drive innovative product development are best addressed through thought leadership and sharing case study examples. All of which Cenex Expo helps to facilitate.”
Alongside the seminar programme, exhibitors will be spread across four indoor halls. There’s also an outdoor steering pad, giving visitors the opportunity to ride and drive the latest R&D vehicles.
More than 5,000 technology developers, policymakers, government agencies, funders, fleet managers, charge point infrastructure experts and sector specific thought leaders are expected to attend the two-day event, which has cemented itself as a key fixture in the transport and mobility industry calendar.
